Podcasting Schedule for July & August

June 30th, 2008 John View Comments

I just wanted to drop a post about my podcasting schedule for the next two months. Here’s what it’s going to look like:

  • All podcasts will be released on TUESDAY this month. That means this week’s podcast will come out tomorrow.
  • There will be no podcast on July 28th. It’s the week after the Geek’s & God Web 2.0 Conference and I’m sure I’ll be pooped.
  • August will feature the three sessions I’m hosting from the Geek’s & God Web 2.0 Conference (I hope). We’re planning on recording them but we can’t be 100% about that. I do plan on at least recording my sessions while I’m speaking but cannot guarantee the quality of that audio.
  • I’m thinking about doing a LIVE show via TalkShoe so if that is of interest to you, please contact me and let me know. I’m actually thinking about doing one live show with an interviewee so that you can ask him questions. This is new territory for me so no guarantees that I’ll be able to pull this off.

Well, that’s it. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to drop me line via the contact for above or by sending email to geek {at} jesusgeek {dot} info.

Bye-Bye Twitter Tools

June 27th, 2008 John View Comments

I’d been using Alex King‘s Twitter Tools plug-in to display my tweets in the sidebar for a few months now. Due to the horrendous performance issues Twitter is having it’s caused my blog to hang at times. So in order to improve performance I’ve temporarily disabled the plug-in. As rockin’ as Alex’s plug-ins are, even he can’t get around the Twitter problems.

Brad let me loose in the tree house and I had a blast. Listen to my funny story about my experience with repairing a toilet. Thanks again for the opportunity, Brad, because I know it’s all about you!

Archangel Episode 8

ArchangelI was given the opportunity to read “the story so far” for Archangel, episode 8. Scott Roche has been weaving a nice little yarn and it was a pleasure to read for his podcast novel. I also got a little sneak peek because I knew what had happened in episode 7 before it was released.

5 Easy and Inexpensive Ways to “Go Green”

June 2nd, 2008 John View Comments

A recent podcast by my buddies over at Geeks & God challenged me to come up with 5 easy ways that you can “go green”. I wanted my list to be low-tech, practical and inexpensive. Most of the tips in today’s podcast cost you zero dollars. All of them will save you money and help out the environment at the same time. For the record, they are:

  1. Install a clothesline and dry you clothes outside
  2. Bring a reusable mug to work for your beverages instead of using up all those cups.
  3. Brown-bag it! Driving to lunch wastes gas!
  4. Wash and reuse those Zip-loc bags
  5. Don’t speed.

All of these tips, except for the first one, cost you nothing and they will help you to save money alomg with helping our environment. Do you have any clever or inexpensive ways to “go green” AND save money? Leave me a comment and let me know!
