This is the 3rd and final session from the Geeks & God Web 2.0 Conference. It would be better if there was video but dems da breaks. I hope this has been helpful to you. Next week I’ll start back with my regular coverage of technology, tips & how-tos. Thanks for listening!

Hey everyone, I just noticed today that I hadn’t included ID3 tags in last week’s show. I’ll talk a little bit more about why last week’s show was a little late tomorrow. For now, though, the tags have been added. I figured since I rail about how podcasters should use ID3 tags that I should take my own advice.
The problem: you have three computers on your desk that you use often. You want to be able to control them all with the same keyboard and mouse but don’t want to bother with a KVM. Oh yeah, each is running a different OS: Vista, OS X and Linux.
The answer: Synergy. Synergy allows you to use the same mouse and keyboard with all the machines. It’s like a virtual KVM. The added bonus is that it’s like extending your desktop to another computer.
Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware. It’s intended for users with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its own monitor(s).
Redirecting the mouse and keyboard is as simple as moving the mouse off the edge of your screen. Synergy also merges the clipboards of all the systems into one, allowing cut-and-paste between systems. Furthermore, it synchronizes screen savers so they all start and stop together and, if screen locking is enabled, only one screen requires a password to unlock them all.
If you’re a multi-OS user with more than one computer on your desk, you should be using Synergy. It is, hands-down, the coolest and most productive piece of software I’ve come across in a long time. Oh yeah, it’s also free. Even though it’s free you should leave them a donation because the team of developers have done an awesome job.

This is the 2nd session from the Geeks & God Web 2.0 Conference where I spoke on Podcasting with WordPress. This is just a quick overview. I don’t go into a lot of detail but I think it’s valuable (otherwise I wouldn’t be posting it).
Thanks again to Micah Webner for recording the sessions and doing the heavy lifting.

The video above is from the Gold medal round in Athens 2004, 80kg division (heavyweight). I thinking about taking this up. I’ll never reach this level but it would be fun to go for broke against others my age and weight. Olympic sparring has the following general rules:
No punches to the head or face
Kicks to the head & face are awarded 2 pts
Kicks & punches to the trunk are awarded 1 pt
No grabbing or throwing your opponent
No attacking your opponent when he’s down
The rules are modified based upon the division you participate in. Here’s the thing, light touches (except those to the face & head) are generally not scored. You have to make a “thunderous strike”, in other words, unload on your opponent and make him feel it. You have to visibly move the person. This is why you won’t see a lot of punches. It’s hard to move someone with a punch to the body, with kicks it’s another story. Punches to the head are ruled out because it’s an easy target. Anyone can snap someone’s head back with a punch.
I don’t know if I’m in shape for this or not but my instructor has struck a deal with another instructor for some of us to train at another facility. There’s a tournament in October that I might participate in down in NYC but that still remains to be seen. I’ll keep you posted. Who knows, the next TKD video you see here might be of me getting knocked out!

So there I was, editing the audio in Audacity and I changed the sample rate to see what would happen. It turned the audio into the chipmunk style of audio. I decided ‘what the heck’ and uploaded it like that. Enjoy. We talk about foam battles, larping, and more! If you would like to leave […]
