Googlicious

This week’s podcast marks the beginning of a series I’ll be doing on Internet awareness. I cover some Google news and rant about Apple’s poor quality software on Windows despite the fact that Windows users make up the majority of their customers.

You said its inferior which implies a comparison, but you never actually compared it to anything. I personally will not load itunes on my laptop but I never heard you say what itunes was inferior to.

I agree with Brad, what is inferior about iTunes on a Windows machine? And are you sure it is Apple’s fault? I have heard many times that Microsoft sabotages competitors programs on Windows machines. And you said you had problems installing iTunes on Vista, I’m sure it is a problem with Vista if anything.

Also, I do believe Apple would still be in business even without iTunes and iPods. Apple makes some of the best multimedia machines and programs out there (Paale Mac Pro and Final Cut Studio). They may not be on the general level consumer but def on the prosumer (Podcastors) and professional level computers for audio and video editing and production.

Brad – I was comparing iTunes to itself on the Mac & PC. iTunes installs and runs better on the Mac than the PC, period. I’ve used several versions on both platforms. There are bugs in the PC version that don’t show up on the Mac. I can’t site specifics because it’s been updated and those bugs typically get resolved fairly quickly.

Chris – Actually, if an application cannot install correctly it’s a problem with the people writing the code, not the operating system. Application developers are given a development kit that says, “This is how you do this,” and Apple is one of Microsoft’s key partners (believe it or not). I installed iTunes on a clean Vista machine and had problems. That tells me the application developer didn’t follow the guideline set by Microsoft. As far as Microsoft sabotaging other vendors, that’s mostly FUD, especially when it comes to Apple products.
