WordPress Security Scanner

February 5th, 2009 John Leave a comment Go to comments

The kind folks over at Blog Security have released the latest version of their WordPress Scanner. This handy little tool will help you keep your WordPress installation more secure by checking your blog and plug-ins for any known vulnerabilities.

DK says this about the scanner in the announcement,

It is a complete re-write of the old scanner. I’ve not only ported it to PHP but I’ve also implemented it into WordPress itself for future expansion and work. It will at some point provide links to WordPress vulnerabilities published on BlogSecurity.

What I really like about this scanner is that it requires you, the blog owner, to install a plug-in for it to work. There’s no random scanning of people’s blogs going on here. They’ve made it difficult for people to abuse.

Nothing is 100% and this won’t root out all the security issues on your blog (like bad passwords) but it’s a great start if you’re looking for ways to make your blog more secure.

Great job, folks! Hope you don’t mind me hot-linking your logo.
