CMS Smackdown Part 1
This week’s podcast features part 1 of my CMS smackdown. I’ll be comparing the installation process of WordPress, Drupal and Joomla. This isn’t so much trying to decided which CMS is the best product but just a comparison and contrast of the different tools.
Also mentioned was an article about the importance (or lack thereof) of voice mail, the recent Windows security update and a brief description of ScreenToaster.com, an online screen casting tool.
Also note that I was on Cloud Weekly with E.F. Cussins this week.

John,
Just completed your podcast and appreciate your work and thoughts.
I wanted to respond to your comment regarding the T.E.A parties on 4/15. I did attend the event in Kansas City and believe we can and must be open to speaking out when we believe our government is not doing their job.
I think we hamstring ourselves as Christians with taking an un-Christ like attitude that we only show love and do not stand up for anything. Yes Jesus did say render to Caesar what is Caesar’s, but also remember that there was no other option available to them except for outright and mostly violent rebellion.
We have been given another option not available in Jesus’s day or even in other parts of the world today. Our form of representative government is very dependent on our representatives hearing from those they are suppose to be representing. If we do not speak up when we believe they are not representing us then all they have to go from is their assumptions (right or wrong) of how they think they should represent us.
Yes there is a way of doing this Christ like and not so. But just because you speak up does not mean you are not being Christ like.
Jeff
Jeff,
Thanks for your comment. I’m not opposed to speaking out. I think we should speak out against the injustices in the world and our country. However, when we spend more time and money as Christians complaining rather than housing the homeless, feeding the hungry and providing medical assistance to the sick I think we’ve lost our focus.
I think we should focus on being agents of change in our communities rather than trying to legislate our religious beliefs through the government.
Thanks again for commenting. I appreciate having my thoughts and ideas challenged.
The Drupal module for clean URLs is Pathauto.
Thanks. I just couldn’t recall the name of it and didn’t have time to research it.
