The Minstrel Boy

This is a test to make sure things are working correctly on the new hosting service.

Hiccups on the way

moving-vanI am in the process of moving my content to a new hosting provider. Brad McFadden and MyLife Ministries have been hosting the podcast for a long time now and I’m truly blessed to have been provided free hosting for 2 years.

However, in order for me to implement some new things I need to have a little more control over the domain and databases, etc.

There may be some bumps along the way. The site may go down or the RSS feed may reset or some other weird stuff may happen. Please feel free to contact me if you see any weirdness.

Natural Family Planning with Jeffrey and Ann Hite

familyThis week’s podcast diverts from the norm.

I asked Jeffrey Hite of Great Hites to record this for me so I could spend more time thinking about rehabilitating my ankle and he was gracious enough to do so. Thanks also to his wife, Ann, who jumped in front of the microphone with him. If you haven’t already, checkout his podcast. You’ll hear a lot of great short fiction there.

The song sung at the end of the podcast is The Minstrel Boy, an Irish traditional song that was also sung my soldiers during the American Civil War and World War I. You may have heard it being sung on Star Trek: The Next Generation by Miles O’Brien played by Colm Meaney in the episode titled “The Wounded”.

Encore Presentation: Interview with Jeff Darlington

Since I’m hobbling about with a sprained ankle, I decided to re-release this interview I did with Jeff Darlington about 2 years ago. Jeff is the creator and author of a very geeky comic strip: General Protection Fault. I’ve been a fan of his for years and never miss a comic.

Jeff even guest-hosted the podcast once and did a great job at it too.

Sprained Ankle

I have severely sprained my ankle. There will be no new podcasts until further notice. I will try and release some “best-of” podcasts if I’m able.

theOJG by DAVe

The OJGDave Avila of The Jen and Dave Show and The Jaded Visalian is one of my DOFs (Dear Online Friends). He and I sometimes disagree about cussing, crude jokes and what it means to be “real” but I still count him as someone I can shoot an email to and say, “Hey, I need some prayer right now. Could you go before the throne for me?”

Dave sent me this DM last week via Twitter:

I was curious. He emailed me the above logo and I was very pleased to see it. It incorporates O, J and G into my face. I thought it was very creative. I also thought, “Is my nose really that big?”

If you don’t know, OJG stands for Original Jesus Geek. I needed a way to stand out from other Jesus Geeks out there and since AFAIK I’m the first person to start podcasting and use the title “Jesus Geek” I decided to go with theOJG. There is of course, The Jesus Geeks Podcast which you should be listening to. Also, there’s the Jesus Geeks Ning site which is not associated with the podcast and there’s Jesus GEEK Multimedia Ministries where GEEK stands for Growing Everyday in Everlasting Knowledge.

I needed a way to stand out from the crowd so I chose to start referring to myself as theOJG. It seems to have stuck and I’ll continue to use the name until it’s time to re-brand (again).

Dave did a great job incorporating the initials into this logo and I really like it. Thanks, Dave! You are The Best!
