I stayed up too late last night and didn’t plan for today’s podcast so rather than bumble through the thing, I’m going to take a nap. There will be another podcast on Friday.

23:52 I added the image to the left. It’s the only decent one that came out. For some reason nearly all of my photos were out of focus. I’ll post videos of the even here tomorrow.
22:50 Some clouds rolled in and obscured msome mof the viewing. My fingers are frozen again. Unless something significant happens, this will be the end of my report as the moon is starting to brighten again. Totality ends at 23:01.
22:35 It is n ow the darkest time of the eclipse. I can now see stars near the edge of the moon. Hopefully I’ll be able to see an occulation.
22:29 Almost at the darkest point in the eclipse. This is awesome! I went inside for a few minutes and defrosted my fingers.
22:15 Skies cleared briefly. the moon is very dark. Abesoluitely lovely. My fingers are frozen!
22:05 Now at totality. Stupid clouds showed up!
21:48 Near totality. Man is it cold! I think it’s in the single digits.
21:33 A patch of clouds hjave rolled in. Go away! They shouldn’t be here too long. Another benefit is the chnage to see Saturn at near elongation under the dim light of the moon. Very nice.
21:25 Already starting to see stars that normally would not be visible during a full moon. Glorious!
21:17 Half way into the umbra and already seeing some very deep reds. This one is going to beautiful!
21:06 If the skies are cloudy, you can watch the eclipse over at www.ustream.tv
21:00 Starting a little early. I can already see the moon turning red along the edges.
Starting at 22:15 EST, I will be live blogging the total lunar eclipse. I will include photos to go along with this event. Hopefully the clouds will stay out of the way! Watch this spot later tonight for photos and video of the eclipse!
I’ve created some surveys about the podcast. The first is a very short, 6 question survey that asks for no demographic data. Take this if you are uncomfortable sharing that data. It is a survey I designed using Survey Monkey and asks some general questions about you as a listener. Click Here to take the survey. I’d like to encourage everyone who listens to take this survey. I’m trying to plan the format of the podcast and want to know what you think.
The next survey(s) come from Podtrac which do collect demographic data. I did not design these surveys. There are two surveys for you to take, please take one or the other but not both of the Podtrac surveys.
If you want to know a little more about the survey being conducted by Podtrac, click here.
For some of us today is a holiday in the U.S. so I’m taking the day off. Look for a new podcast tomorrow. Learn more about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and watch his famous speech.
I recently received an email from Podango alerting me about the transition from Gigavox Media Lite to Podango Show Builder Lite. This is what scared me:
Change all SmartDelivery URLs if you have SmartDelivery enabled. URLs that used to point to media.gigavox.net need to be pointed to media.podango.net.
I have over 60 podcasts that are hosted on their servers! I thought I was in for a lot of work over the next day and a half. I started thinking and came up with a solution that uses two plugins, Search and Replace by Mark Cunningham and WordPress Database Backup by Scott Merrill.
First, let me say thank you to both of these guys for writing two easy to install and use plugins. So without further ado, here’s the process:
- Download and install the two plugins (links above)
- Backup your database using WordPress Database Backup
- Use Search and Replace to find
media.gigavox.netand replace it withmedia.podango.net
